Diamond wheels are classified into ceramic, resin, metal sintering, electroplating, brazing, etc.

1. Resin bond grinding wheel: good self-sharpness, not easy to block, flexible, and good polishing, but the bond carcass has poor strength, poor grip of diamond on the carcass, poor heat resistance and wear resistance, so it is not suitable for rough grinding wheel , not suitable for heavy-duty grinding。

2.The metal bond wheel is not sharp, the resin bond is sharp but shape retention is poor due to high elasticity.

3. Ceramic bond grinding wheel: high porosity, high rigidity, adjustable structure (can be made into large pores), not bonded to metal; but brittle

Compound binder:

Resin-metal composite: resin base, introducing metal–using metal thermal conductivity to change the grinding performance of resin binder Metal-ceramic composite: metal base, introducing ceramics-not only the impact resistance of the metal matrix, good electrical and thermal conductivity, but also the brittleness of the ceramic.

Due to its good hardness, diamond is very suitable for processing the following materials:

1. All cemented carbide

2. Cermet

3. Oxide and non-oxide ceramics

4.PCD/PCBN

5. Alloy with high hardness

6. Sapphire and glass

7. Ferrite

8. Graphite

9. Reinforced fiber composite

10. Stone

Because diamond is composed of pure carbon, it is not suitable for processing steel materials. The high temperature during grinding will cause the iron and diamond in the steel to react and corrode the diamond particles.
